Privacy Policy — TuneScribe

TuneScribe (“the App”) is an offline music transcription app for iOS (and Android where available). This policy describes what data the App uses and how it is handled.

Summary

Microphone access is used only to record audio on your device.
Transcription and transposition run on your device. The App does not upload your recordings to our servers.
There is no account and no sign-in.
The App does not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers in Offline v1.
Files you create stay on your device unless you choose to export or share them.

Information we collect

Audio recordings

When you use Record, the App asks for microphone permission and stores the recording locally on your device so it can transcribe piano or vocal performances into MIDI, MusicXML, and/or chord data.

Project files

Projects (audio, MIDI, MusicXML, previews, and metadata) are stored in the App’s local storage on your device. Deleting a project removes those local files from the App’s storage.

Permissions

Microphone — required to record performances for on-device transcription.
Denying microphone access prevents recording; the App will explain that recording cannot proceed.

How we use information

Audio and project files are used solely to:

Run on-device transcription (Basic Pitch ONNX and related local processing).
Display sheet music and chord progressions.
Play local preview audio.
Export or share files when you initiate that action (for example via the system share sheet).

Offline v1 does not send your audio or projects to TuneScribe servers, and does not include third-party analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs that collect personal data.

If you share or export a file, the destination app or service you choose (email, Files, Messages, etc.) is governed by that provider’s policies—not by TuneScribe.

Data retention and deletion

Data remains on your device until you delete the project or remove the App. Uninstalling the App removes App-local storage according to the platform’s normal behavior.

Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy when the App’s data practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised accordingly.
