Privacy Policy

Audio Cards (“the app”) is developed by Joshua McMahon. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

Summary

Audio Cards is offline-first. Your flashcards, review history, and settings are stored only on your device. We do not operate servers that collect your study data, and we do not use analytics or advertising SDKs.

Data stored on your device

The app stores the following locally in SQLite and on-device files:

• Flashcard content you create or import (front/back text, tags, locales)
• Imported media (audio and images from CSV or Anki .apkg imports)
• Scheduling state (due dates, intervals, learning progress)
• Review history (ratings, timestamps, session metadata)
• App settings (speech rate, volume, hands-free mode, default languages, study limits)

This data is not transmitted to us or any third-party service we control.

Data we do not collect

• No user accounts or login
• No email, name, or contact information
• No device identifiers sent to our servers
• No crash reporting or analytics to third parties
• No sale or sharing of your data

Microphone and speech recognition

If you enable hands-free mode, the app uses your device’s microphone and speech recognition to listen for voice commands (e.g. “flip”, “good”, “again”) during review.

• Audio is used only to recognize short voice commands
• The app does not record or store voice audio or transcripts
• Recognition is requested to run on-device when supported; on some devices the operating system may use its own speech service (e.g. Apple Speech on iOS)
• You can use the app without hands-free mode and without granting microphone access

Text-to-speech

Card text is spoken using your device’s built-in text-to-speech engine. Text is not sent to our servers.

Imports

When you import a CSV or Anki .apkg file, the file is read from your device and processed locally. Importing does not upload the file to us.

Data deletion

You can delete individual decks (and all associated cards and history) inside the app. Uninstalling the app removes all local data from your device.

Children’s privacy

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app has no account system.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
